Pre-course theory may be completed online prior to attending the face to face practical, which reduces the face-to-face delivery time. Consideration is given to previous skills, knowledge and experience for students refreshing an existing or equivalent certificate.
· Pre-course theory: Approximately 2 hours.
· Standard face-to-face delivery: Up to 90 minutes.
Note: These are approximate minimum timings and may vary based on the number of students, their level of experience, and whether the theory component is completed beforehand or integrated into the face-to-face session. Full face to face option is available, whereby the pre-course theory is not required to be completed. The duration for full face-to-face training is 3 hours.
There are no formal prerequisite units required for entry into this course. Learners will require English language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills.
Learners undertaking refresher training must have previously completed the HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.
Learners will be required to provide a copy of their expiring Statement of Attainment (or digital certificate that can be validated) on the day of their face-to-face course.
This course requires participants to have the physical ability to respond to an emergency situation where they need to maintain breathing and circulation in an adult, child or infant following cardiac arrest. This includes the requirement for all participants to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.
This course is recommended to be updated annually.
