Overview
The course we deliver is highly practical and focused on developing skills you can put into practice in real emergency scenarios. It provides the skills and knowledge required to provide an advanced first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. It applies to all persons who may be required to provide an advanced first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Course Outline
- Legal requirements, the five rights, and the responsibilities of the first aider
- Basic Life Support (DRSABCD)
- CPR and AED
- Drowning
- Allergic reaction, Anaphylaxis, Asthma
- Choking and airway obstruction
- Shock, Stroke
- First aid kits
- Basic anatomy of the human body
- Practical treatment of bleeding, burns, bites, stings, poisoning, broken bones, eye injuries, nose-bleed
- Knowledge of bleeding, head, neck and spinal injuries, hypothermia/hyperthermia, seizures and more
- Incident reporting
- Levels of consciousness
- Emergency childbirth
- Life-threatening bleeding requiring use of tourniquets and haemostatic dressings
- Vital Signs
- Coordinating a team of people to respond to a multiple casualty incident
- Conducting a basic triage
Pre-course theory may be completed online prior to attending the face to face practical, which reduces the face-to-face delivery time. Consideration is given to previous skills, knowledge and experience for students refreshing an existing or equivalent certificate.

There are no formal prerequisite units required for entry into this course. Learners will require English language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills.
Participants must be physically capable of performing CPR on a floor-based manikin for at least two minutes.
This course requires participants to respond to range of first aid emergency situations. This includes the requirement for all participants to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult, child, infant resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.
This course is recommended to be updated every three years, with the HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation statement of attainment to be updated annually.

Our quality online training ensures you learn all the essential skills and knowledge to give you confidence to act in an emergency situation. You will then be able to demonstrate your skills to our qualified trainers & assessors, certifying that you are ready to provide CPR or first aid to your workmates and loved ones.
Refreshers: We acknowledge your existing skills and knowledge and offer reduced face to face time for assessment.
New students: If you have not completed this training before we provide you with additional face to face time to practice your skills, ask your trainer questions and leave confident you have the required skills and knowledge of this qualification.
CPR (HLTAID009): Detailed online training (2 hours) + face to face assessment (45 min refresher | 60 min new)
First Aid (HLTAID011): Detailed online training (5 hrs) + face to face assessment (2 hrs refresher | 3 hours new)
Childcare First Aid (HLTAID012): Detailed online training (6 hrs) + face to face assessment (2 hrs refresher | 3.5 hrs new)

Drawing on extensive experience, our trainers and assessors will guide you through a comprehensive training program, empowering you with the skills and knowledge essential to react to an emergency situation. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and participate in engaging discussion throughout your training.
Refreshers: Complete 100% of your training and assessment face to face in our 1 day programme
New students: Get prepared by completing a short online workbook prior to attending the face to face training and assessment.
