CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry

This is a face-to-face course. Consideration is given to previous skills, knowledge and experience for students refreshing an existing or equivalent certificate.

NSW: Face to face in person only. You must attend the face-to-face class in New South Wales. NOTE: You can enrol in a NSW White Card course if you live in another State, but you MUST attend the face-to-face class delivered in New South Wales.

QLD: You must be located in Queensland. You may attend a face to face in person course or a virtual class.

NSW: 6 hours

QLD: 4.5 – 5 hours

Note: These are approximate minimum timings and may vary based on the number of students, their level of experience, and whether the theory component is completed beforehand or integrated into the face-to-face session.

There are no formal prerequisite units required for entry into this course. Learners will require English language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills.

All students are required to provide 100 points of identification and complete an Evidence of Identify (EOI) form prior to commencing the course. An English language, Literacy and Numeracy skill level of 1.

Additional requirements for virtual class:

  • Access to the internet to join the virtual real time classroom on Microsoft Teams.
  • A computer, tablet or smartphone with a webcam and microphone.
  • Personal headphones (recommended).
  • Access to PPE (either owned or borrowed for the course):

  • safety glasses
  • high visibility clothing
  • ear plugs/muffs

Participants are required to engage in practical training sessions, which include identifying and reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk control measures, and correctly selecting and fitting personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards.

While there aren’t any expiry dates set for the current White Card, if you haven’t been working in the construction industry for 2 years or more or have misplaced or lost your White Card, it is recommended that you replace or upskill by completing a White Card course.
